Factory integrated into the Hydrolab HL4 and HL7 multiparameter water quality meters, the Hydrolab Blue Green Algae sensor provides reliable, real-time measurements in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and water storage systems. Its robust optical design ensures dependable performance in both short-term field surveys and long term unattended monitoring deployments.

WHY MEASURE BLUE GREEN ALGAE?

Blue green algae (cyanobacteria) can produce toxins harmful to humans, animals, and aquatic ecosystems. Monitoring cyanobacteria levels is essential for early warning of harmful algal blooms (HABs), allowing timely management actions to reduce risks to drinking water supplies, recreational areas, and environmental health.

Hydrolab Blue Green Algae

  • Available in two forms, one for detecting phycocyanin (fresh water), and one for detecting phycoerythrin (marine water).
  • Ultra-compact size designed specifically for integration into the Hydrolab HL4 & HL7 Sondes.
  • Available with solid Secondary Standards to provide a quick and simple method to verify the sensor’s stability over time.
  • The Secondary Standard can be adjusted to correlate to a known Blue-Green Algae concentration.
  • Three auto-selected gain ranges provide a wide measurement range of 100 to 2,000,000 cells/mL for either phycocyanin or phycoerythrin
