The A850 Telemetry Gateway is the core of every Adcon monitoring network, be it a pure GSM / GPRS network, a UHF radio network or a combination of both – it’s the A850 that knows exactly when and how to retrieve data from each RTU.
A network consisting of only GSM / GPRS RTU’s requires only the A850 Telemetry Gateway, while a network using UHF radio RTU’s also requires an A440 Wireless Modem. The A850 is available in several versions, managing from 5 up to 1,000 RTU’s. Each version can easily be upgraded by software to support more RTU’s.
What’s new, compared to the A840?
During the 7 years of service of the A840 Telemetry Gateway we have gathered lots of experience with Base Stations, and the list of desirable improvements was long, including numerous requests from our customers. We have packed them all into the new A850! Here are the most important:

We have developed the A511 Sensor Test box to facilitate the maintenance of Adcon RTU’s in the field or office. With the A511 you can test analog and SDI-12 sensors, pulse counters and solar panels, modify SDI-12 sensor addresses and check for vendor IDs, and much more. The old time-consuming process of dragging batteries and adapter cables along, and hook the sensors up to standard testing tools is a thing of the past. This has just become a whole lot easier!
The A511 features the same 5-pin and 7-pin connectors as the Adcon RTU’s. Adcon analog and SDI-12 sensors, rain gauges and solar panels can thus be connected directly to the A511. For SDI-12 sensors you need an adapter cable from 7-pin to 5-pin, which is now included with the A511. This cable can also be ordered separately. As an option for other SDI-12 sensors we offer a 5-pin cable with cage clamps to connect to any SDI-12 sensor with open wire ends.
To power the sensors it features an internal 9V battery, which can be sourced almost anywhere. The latest version of the A511 will also work with all standard Adcon 6V battery packs.
Sutron’s SDI-Link provides a way for an SDI-12 data recorder to read one or more SDI-12 sensors located up to 1 mile away using un-licensed band radios. SDI-LINK is composed of two parts — Master Modules that connect to SDI-12 Data Loggers & Slave Modules that connect to SDI-12 Sensors.
Sutron is an authorized Iridium Valued Added Reseller. The IridiumLink Provides Complete Two-Way Communications with Remote Stations Anywhere in the World
The Eijkelkamp GDT-S Prime 4G Modem is possibly the best kept secret in the environmental monitoring industry!
Eijkelkamp GDT-S Prime 4G Modem is a 4G capable, IP67 rated, data modem designed to be installed within an environmental monitoring well.
Simply connect the Eijkelkamp GDT-S Prime 4G Modem to one the following of Van Essen Diver water level loggers:
• MicroDiver
• TD Diver
• CTD Diver
• Cera Diver
Water Level Logger ranges: 10m, 20m 50m, 100m
Connection is made using MDC Cable up 1m – 300m in length.
Utilising a user supplied SIM Card, the Eijkelkamp GDT-S Prime 4G Modem transmits water level data (via email) anywhere in the world using the 4G Network. Transmitted parameters include:
• Level
• Temperature
• Conductivity
• Atmospheric Pressure
Each Eijkelkamp GDT-S Prime 4G Modem includes: modem, antenna, magnet, alkaline batteries & quick guide. Barometric pressure & temperature sensors integrated within unit.
Note: SIM Card is customer supplied and not included.
Please discuss application with Aqualab before ordering.
From the surface down to 100cm – with an accuracy of +/- 0.3°C
The Adcon soil and water temperature probe was specifically developed for measuring soil temperature at various depths. It is housed in a stainless steel enclosure and can be inserted into the ground down to 30 cm (12 in.) by just ramming the spike into the soil. Since the probe can be fully submerged under water, it can also be buried as a whole at any depth of soil to measure the temperature in deeper layers.
The sensor is mounted into the tip of the lance and is maintenance free. The probe is IP67 compliant. To protect the cable from rodents and other forms of mechanical damage the first 200cm are covered by a highly flexible stainless steel jacket.
Custom lengths are available, ranging from 0 cm for surface temperature measurements down to 100cm
The Steven’s HydraProbe is a single level soil moisture sensor which may
be used as an insertion probe or buried in the soil at a fixed depth. The
sensor measures soil moisture, soil temperature and EC.
The HydraProbe is a robust, accurate single level soil sensor, which measures soil moisture, soil temperature and soil conductivity. Using these three readings it is then able to calculate the EC of the water held in the soil pores – the salt level the plant sees.
The HydraProbe can be used as a portable probe for turf applications or buried
below the surface for monitoring at a specific depth. Multiple sensors may be
connected to the same logger.
The HydraProbes may be installed in an over-sized hole drilled into the soil with a 40mm auger. The probe pins are pushed into the soil at the bottom of the hole
using a push rod and the hole backfilled with a mix of sand & bentonite. For
shallower sites, a hole can be opened up with a spade or post hole digger and the probe pins pushed into the undisturbed soil on the side of the hole. The hole can then be backfilled.
The HydraProbe sensor may be connected to any data logger which supports the SDI-12 serial interface specification.
Like its analog counter part the new LEV2 level sensor is fully digitally compensated and built for Adcon in Switzerland. In addition to the pressure reading it also outputs the temperature of the water table. A pressure relief box with a silica pack inside is fitted to the end of the reference tube, which is embedded into the cable, to prevent condensation from blocking barometric pressure compensation.
The probes are extremely accurate and provide excellent long term stability. Power is provided by the RTU’s internal battery pack.
Three different pressure cells are available, 1, 3 and 10bar, corresponding to approx. 10, 30 and 100m of water column.
AddVANTAGE Pro 6.8 is the latest incarnation of the ADCON’s universal data visualization, processing and distribution platform. It is fully web based, runs on a fast and reliable PostgreSQL database engine, and is fully scalable from a single user version for 5 RTU’s to a super server, serving hundreds of clients and hundreds of RTU’s.

Adcon’s digitally compensated level sensors are top quality products Made in Switzerland, and are suitable for a wide range of applications. A pressure relief box with a silica pack inside is fitted to the end of the reference tube, which is embedded into the cable, to prevent condensation from blocking barometric pressure compensation.
LEV1 is an extremely accurate sensor that provides excellent long term stability. Built entirely from stainless steel it is also mechanically very robust and can withstand a number of chemicals, which makes it suitable not only for level monitoring in surface, ground and drinking water, but also in industrial process applications.
The sensor is available in three different pressure ranges of 10, 30 and 100m water column. By default it is equipped with 15m of cable for the 10m version and 40m of cable for the 30m version. Power supply is provided by the RTU’s internal battery pack.
